The book "The Basics of Jazz Harmony" of my valued colleague, conductor and composer Ilija Pejovski (of whom I am proud to have been one of his professors), presents one of the most important milestones in our culture, because it's the only successful attempt (to date) to venture so far into the deep meaning of the most original art of 20th century - Jazz.
Ilija Pejovski, within his education, wide experience, vast quantity of compositions, combined with his extraordinary personality, has given us a lot more then the modest title of this book. It is a blessing to have this opportunity to use his systematical presentation for all the main characteristics of the developments of Jazz periods, with his suggestions on how, by using the accepted standards of new musical generations of Jazz musicians, only with practice, "live music making", to enrich their expression and to maintain their "moments of inspiration" with the phenomenon of the "uniqueness"...
